Womens health Physiotherapy



Women’s health physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy concentrating on conditions and injuries which occur to females such as:
  • Rectus abdominus divarication (Separation of the abdominal muscles)
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Child birth injuries (tears)
  • Stress incontinence
  • Pre and post natal exercises classes
  • Symphysis pubis dysfunction
  • Low back pain
The population of women’s health physiotherapy patients tend to be embarrassed about their symptoms therefore can leave them untreated. Those who specialise in women’s health physiotherapy are predominately women and are sensitive about patient’s conditions and symptoms. Some of the treatments which can be beneficial for these patients are:
  • Pelvic and spinal mobilisations
  • Pregnancy support provision
  • Pelvic floor exercises
  • Home exercises programme
  • EMG and Biofeedback
Patients will undergo a comprehensive assessment which will include a discussion and examination. Treatments will be specifically tailored to the individuals needs. Patients can be referred to women’s health physiotherapy through a health care professional, GP or self-referral system.
