Chest Surgery

The chest is a large structure and contains important organs such as the lungs and the heart. The ribs surround these organs to protect them and there are many surrounding muscles to assist with both breathing and movement. Your physiotherapist at Physio.co.uk will assess you and develop an individualised rehabilitation programme for you to strengthen surrounding chest muscle and return to normal function. In the case of cardiac surgery, the patient’s exercise tolerance will be built up to as near to their previous level as possible using a safe exercise programme tailored to the individual.
